When it comes to requesting rides, our guidelines state that the Uber age limit is 18, meaning children are not allowed to have Uber accounts. If you’re using your Uber account or the Uber family profile for your children to request a ride, they must still be accompanied by an adult to be allowed to ride.
Uber explicitly states that anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult to ride and that drivers report when a passenger riding alone is clearly underage. The driver can ask a passenger who looks too young for an ID and is instructed to cancel a trip if that turns out to be the case.
In reality, your child should have no problem walking to school alone if you have safe routes to school prepared. Make sure your child knows them well and has emergency procedures in place if they get in trouble.
