A critical note from the IGH PD
On Friday, April 28th, 2023, Officer Ben Bidon experienced a medical emergency, requiring the attention of police, fire, and MHealth paramedics in Inver Grove Heights. When Ben needed medical attention, he was sent there and stayed all weekend at Regions Hospital. On the evening of April 30th, he passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by his side.
Minnesota born and raised Ben Bidon graduated from Blaine High School. On May 13th, 2015, he started working for the Inver Grove Heights Police Department. Prior to that, he served in the Army from 2005 to 2009 with honor. He was a decorated war hero who spent 14 months in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Tiger Force Unit during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was honored for his service to our country with the following awards:

Working for the Inver Grove Heights Police Department Ben served the people with compassion and pleasure in his work. He put in countless hours to ensure the security of the area. In addition to his current role as a member of our investigation team, he has previously worked as a crime scene technician, field training officer, guns and use of force instructor, SWAT operator, and squad leader for the police department. He received our lifesaving award in 2020 and the Chief’s Award of Merit in 2022.
Ben Bidon was devoted to his wife Ashley and their three daughters, Addison, Evelyn, and Eleanor, while he wasn’t working. The Bidons were an outdoorsy bunch who frequently went camping and hiking. Ben was a devout Christian, an enthusiastic hockey player, and a passionate hunter.
Ben had a huge effect on Ben in every way. Ben left an indelible impression on everyone he met with his wit, enormous personality, and even bigger smile. His influence will be felt for generations to come thanks to his legacy.
