We are writing to let you know that Kirsten Kowalski, our magnificent leader and co-founder of Seven Sisters Midwifery, whose heart and hands welcomed so many lives into the world, passed away unexpectedly last night, June 27th, following a cardiac episode.
It is with a great deal of regret that we are writing to let you know this information.
Our team is in a period of mourning and is reorganizing. Please be assured that not only are we here for you, but that the Birth Center will continue to be accessible.
Your appointment with one of our other midwives will be taken care of if you were originally planned to see Kirsten during your subsequent visit.
Even though we are in a state of mourning, we would like nothing more than to carry on with the job of assisting families and welcoming infants as was Kirsten’s vision. Kirsten has stated that her enthusiasm for the field of midwifery stems from an inexhaustible excitement in the strength of birthing individuals and mothers, and we intend to channel that delight as we provide support for you, your families, and each other.
In the not-too-distant future, there will be occasions for us to gather together and honor Kirsten’s life as well as the legacy she leaves behind. For the time being, we kindly ask that you refrain from calling the Birth Center to convey your sympathies; we need to ensure that our clients have access to working phone lines at all times. We are sending all of our love to Kirsten’s family, which includes Jon, Will, and Grace, and we will keep you updated in the following weeks regarding any organized attempts to support them financially.
